Valley Girl!

14 06 2007

Like, oh my gosh, totally awesome!  :)   This is the type of Valley Girl I was growing up…well, sort of.  I had a neon tank top, disco pants, and Valley Girl stickers in my sticker album.  I was WAY cool.

Now, though, I’m going to soon be LITERALLY COOL.

We’ve just signed the lease on our new place and, boy, does it look Alaskan!  We will have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 3 story CABIN!  It’s down the street from a coffee shop with wifi…so, I won’t be homebound and hungry for social interaction.  It’s also right close to the school the APU program partners with for their community garden project, so that’s nice.

We’ll post some personalized photos when we arrive and get settled, but I thought I’d let you all know that we’ll officially have a roof over our heads!  (And a wrap around deck and a view of Lazy Mountain!)

Given that I’m turning in my school laptop tomorrow and my Vaio is super clunky (at least in comparison to this sleek Mac), it may be a few weeks until we update you about our trip…but we’ll see.  I LOVE to communicate!  My mama didn’t call me La Boca when I was growing up for nothing!! ;)

We’re waiting on the moving truck right now.  The dog and cat have their health certificates for crossing state and country lines.  I’ve gotten the last of my dental work out of the way…I’m going to miss Dr. Hopper.  He’s been my one and only dentist for the past 30 years, or so.  My choppers owe him a lot! Well, I guess with insurance and co-pays – he’s gotten a pretty penny back from me, as well.  Nonetheless, finding a new dental team will be one of my top priorities.

I’m now being summoned to help pack the trailer!  :)

Ciao for now!

A Few Final Details

12 06 2007

Well, not exactly details, these things are actually the most important part of this place, my hometown…the people.  I’ve had the biggest blessing of the past chapter of my life, my co-workers and colleagues.  (AND great Mexican food and touristy places to visit, as well!)

Check out the link to the photos below.  You’ll see short little blip of some of my final San Diego experiences…at least until my next visit!  :)   Surely our final 6 days will add a greater listing of photos…so, check back to check out the final, final stack of pics.  Saying farewell will be tough, especially since these peeps are so dear to my heart.  I’m proud to say I’ve worked with and known these powerful educators.  The children and families of National City are in good hands, no doubt.  Keep fighting the good fight, my friends.  Be good to one another and do what’s right for those children.  :)

Rockin’ Photos!
