I’ve long felt that life is like a smoothie…or other blended beverage. Think about it. A variety of ingredients go into it. Hopefully, there’s variety among the ingredients: milk, berries, peaches, banana, juice, yogurt, protein powder, etc. A smoothie of just strawberries, while they’re tasty, isn’t much of a smoothie, now is it?
Anyhow, when you’re creating your smoothie, you blend it up. The blender is working hard, crushing up the frozen parts, blending in the smoother parts, and just mixing it all together. All the ingredients are working towards that same goal of making a mean drink…something satisfying.
Well, that’s like life. Lots of different stuff goes into it. You are the blender. You work hard to make it all mesh. You keep stirring, mixing, chopping, whirling around and making the magic happen. Sometimes, though, we all get tired. Fatigue is normal. It’s part of the drill. If the blending and spinning kept on keepin’ on day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year,…well, your motor may burn out.
Stopping, resting – this is supposed to happen.
Getting going again, though, can sometimes be tough. Jumping right back into that whirling dervish of a lifestyle – whipping around and around – it can be a shock to one’s system. So, I suggest, when you’ve taken a break, are in the middle of a break,…press that “pulse” button here and there. Keep that smoothie from separating into layers and getting too out of whack. That way, when you’re back to full speed ahead, you’ve not forgotten how to mix it up. You’re not out of practice…you’re just nicely rested, ready to press on and shake things up!
Spin, baby, spin!
