What’s the point?

4 05 2007

Well, that’s a good question.  As you can probably tell, this blog keeps coming back to trying to answer this question…don’t you think?

I guess the point today is different than the point yesterday…and probably than tomorrow, too.  The point must not be fixed, I think that’s the point.

It’s like playing with a laser pointer and your dog.  The point, that red light that seems to emerge from nowhere, just grabs your dogs attention.  Your dog can’t take its eyes off of it.  It’s mesmerized by the point.  Then you move the point.  The dog’s gaze moves with it.  Good dog.

Follow the point.

It will change.

That’s fine.  It’s supposed to.  That’s what keeps us interested, change.

Imagine if the point never changed.

Hey, wake up!  Yeah, it’s pretty dull to just stare at one point for too long.  You really only do that when you are on a boat off-shore trying not to get sea sick.  And, even then, you try to watch one point without moving, but it’s really impossible…even under those circumstances.

So, when you are lying awake at night, wondering what the point is, remember that the point is the point.  (Thinking about the point, just like staring at a stagnant point, will help put you to sleep…so this is good to keep in mind on those sleepless nights of worry and anxiety.)

Get the point?
